Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: James LLOYD ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ James Lloyd was born in Radnorshire, Wales, Aug. 31, 1857 and died at his home near Cheteck, Wis., Wednesday morning, Feb. 21, 1923. He came to America with his parents in 1860 and settled on a farm near Albany, Wis. On Oct. 17, 1887, he was married to Elizabeth Layton of Evansville. The early years of his married life were spent in and around Evansville. Twenty years ago, Mr. Lloyd and his family moved to California, but later returned to Wisconsin and settled on a farm near Chetek. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Evansville in 1897. Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Alice and George, both of Chetek, to mourn his departure. The deceased was brought to this city for burial, the body arriving Friday morning, and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Miles, from which place the funeral was held Saturday afternoon, Rev. Hanaman in charge, the interment being in Maple Hill Cemetery. The deceased leaves a brother, Thomas Lloyd of this city and two nieces, Mrs. Chauncey Miles, and Mrs. Lyle Patterson, to mourn his loss.
