Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Daniel B. B. Lovejoy, aged 89, died at his home on North Fourth Street, Wednesday afternoon at five o'clock, of heart trouble, having been ill but a few days. Five years ago Mr. Lovejoy moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and built several cottages at Green Mountain Falls which he rented to summer visitors. No arrangements have yet been made concerning the funeral and will not be until the son at St. Paul can be heard from. December 18, 1924, The Evansville Review, p. 4, col. 3, Evansville, Wisconsin Daniel B. Lovejoy was born in the city of New York, Oct. 22, 1835, departing this life December 17, 1924. Receiving his education in New York, Dec. 18, 1848 he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Briggs, to which union two children were born, Eugene, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Mrs. Lawrence Stewart, of Hudson, Wisconsin. His first visit to Wisconsin was in 1856, when he visited his uncle, William Lovejoy, who then lived near Brooklyn. The following year he moved to Evansville, becoming a clerk for Reuben and Nelson Winston. At the beginning of the Civil War he enlisted in Joe West's regiment, the 13th Wisconsin, Co. D., coming out at the end of the conflict as 2nd Lieutenant. November 3, 1897, while staying at his daughter's who was then living in St. Paul, Mrs. Lovejoy passed away. Oct. 12, 1901, he was again married to Miss Alma Story, of this city, who survives him. Seventeen years ago he moved from this city to Crystoia, Colo., where he built several summer cottages which he rented to tourists, making his home in the winter at Colorado Springs. September 24, 1924, he and Mrs. Lovejoy returned to Evansville and their home at 523 West Main Street, where he passed away, December 17. The funeral services were conducted at the home, the Rev. Gales, of the Baptist church officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery. Mr. Lovejoy was a man of much natural ability, being a writer who liked to tell of the beauties of Nature, loving the ruggedness of the mountains and the smell of the pines. One of his books which was published was "From Childhood to Age." being a story written in his interesting style, of his youth in New York State and of his late life in the Middle West. This book is to be found in many Evansville libraries and is a book highly valued by all who possess it. For several years he has been an occasional contributer to the Review and his letters about Colorado and the great Out of Doors were greatly appreciated by all who read them. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one son, one daughter, and a grandson, Daniel Vernon Lovejoy of Los Angeles, California.
