Lowery died at his home on South Madison street, last Friday morning, March 22, 1907, aged nearly 63 years. The deceased was born in Erie, Penn., on April 14, 1844. At the opening of the war he joined the army for one hundred day service, and reinlisted in Co. K. 14th Iowa infantry as first sergeant, and continued in service until the close of the war. He then came to Wisconsin and entered Milton College as a student. He was married at Milton, on June 14, 1866 to Miss Sarah Jane Vincent. Later they moved to Oregon where they resided several years, moving to this city twenty-four years ago. Mr. Lowery has been a man well thought of in this community, and has held several offices of trust, in a most satisfactory manner. For some years he was Justice of the Peace, and later on was elected Police Justice, holding both positions at the time of his death. While in Oregon he was also prominent in affairs of the public. He has been in poor health for some months past and spent several weeks at the sanitarium in Madison, returning home three weeks before death relieved his suffering. He is survived by his wife, and his father, who is 92 years of age and resides in Erie, Pennsylvania; also one sister, Miss Lowery, who resides with the father. The funeral services were largely attended at the methodist church, Sunday afternoon, the Masonic order, G.A.R. and W.R.C. attended in a body. Rev. North delivered an excellent sermon. Interment was made in Maple Hill cemetery. March 29, 1907, Enterprise, p. 3, col. 6, Evansville, Wisconsin
