Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: George Lucius MCCOY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ George Lucius McCoy passed away at his home in this city Wednesday night, Nov. 7, at 11:40 after an illness of some months, aged 77 years. He was born in Highgate, Vermont, Feb. 14, 1846. Came to Magnolia, Wis., with his parents, at the age of 10 years. He lived in this vicinity for 67 years, moving to Evansville four and one-half years ago. He served in the Civil War, being a private in the 42nd Wisconsin Volunteers and was commander of T. L. Stuphen G. A. R. Post No. 41, at the time of his death. Many years ago he joined the Masonic Order: Mr. McCoy was united in marriage in 1865 to Miss Lucinda Howard of Magnolia, she passing away in 1870. In 1875 he was married to Miss Etta Hollibush of Dayton. Besides his wife he leaves five sons; H. Clyde, Elmer B., Pliney, Robert L., and Burchard, all of whom reside in this vicinity; and two sisters, Mrs. Sabria Clark of Post Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. E. H. Mattice of Footville, one brother, H. E. McCoy of Whiting, Indiana, together with 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 23 nieces and nephews. At the time of going to press funeral arrangements have not been made.
