His death was the result of dropsy, erysipelas and the infirmities of old age. Mr. Miles was a Rock County pioneer, and few men were better known. In earlier years he held many positions of honor and trust, and won and held the esteem and respect of his fellow men. For some years he was engaged in buying stock, but did very little business the past two years. He was twice married, his first wife leaving him one son and one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Hubbell, of Fulton, and William Miles of Saratoga, Iowa, who with his second wife and adopted son, Emmett Miles, survive. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Wednesday, May 20, 1891, Janesville Gazette, Janesville, Wisconsin.
