In 1861, at Penbridge, Herefordshire, England, he married Elizabeth Wyles. In 1867, with his wife and eldest son, he came to America and settled in Green County. Here two sons were born. In 1895, he moved into the city of Evansville and settled on Almeron Street. For a number of years he had suffered from Bright's disease. On Wednesday he was taken worse, and declined rapidly until on Sunday at 11:00 a.m., he passed into the other world. The deceased leaves behind a loving wife and three sons, whose faithful ministrations comforted his last hours. Mr. Miles was an honest businessman, a kind neighbor, a loving husband and father, and a devoted Christian. He was converted in the year 1877, and joined the Free Methodist church in 1885, in whose communion he remained until death. The funeral services were conducted in the Seminary Chapel by Rev. N. J. Davis on Tuesday afternoon. In the death of Mr. Miles this city lost a citizen of high character. Coming to America in his youth, he gave all of his energies to adopting the customs of his new home and has won great success in material prosperity and in the forming and holding a wide circle of friends. He was one to whom others applied for counsel and his kindly sympathy has helped to lighten many burdens. For years he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Evansville Seminary where he was one of the trusted advisers in all matters of importance. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. August 8, 1903, p. 1, col. 5, The Badger, Evansville, Wisconsin
