Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Franklin PATTERSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Franklin Patterson died on Thursday evening, March 8, 1906, at his residence on Mill street in this city. He was born April 17, 1823, at Oak Hill, Allegheny county, N. Y. At six years of age he moved with his parents to Ohio remaining there until he was of age. In 1844 he came to Wisconsin, for the next two years he traveled a great deal in the West and South. In 1846 he began farming on land taken as a homestead from the government, later he purchased additional land and lived there until his removal to Evansville in 1901. He was united in matrimony to Maria McCreedy Sept. 10th, 1847. Four children were born, one of whom died in invancy (Sarah Ann.) Three brothers with their families are bereaved of father: Hiram H., William R., and Lawrence A., all of Evansville. There are only three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Patterson died January 20, 1897. Mr. Patterson was a strong temperance man, he believed in church work and religion, and was a very kind father as well as a most excellent citizen. His health has been poor for some years but failed rapidly this winter; two weeks ago last sunday morning he was taken with a slight shock of paralysis, and was seized again on the Tuesday following with a stronger and more pronounced shock, from which he never regained complete consciousness, in that condition he lay until he went to his final rest. Funeral services were held on Sunday morning at the residence. Rev. James Churm, Methodist pastor, officiating. The choir sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me."
