Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Sarah A. PEEBLES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ The death of Mrs. Peebles occurred at 3:30 yesterday morning at her home on Second street. For the past two years she had been in failing health, in fact ever since she returned two years ago last August from Seattle, Wash., where she had been caring for her brother before his death. She has been at all times, most patient, never becoming despondent, and looking ahead to better health, when she would be able to carry out many long cherished plans. Her maiden name was Sarah A. Kyes. She was born in Theresa, Jefferson county, New York, October 12, 1844. When she was ten years of age her family moved to Wisconsin and settled on the farm three miles south of Evansville. April 8, 1866 she was married to Edwin M. Peebles. At the same time, her brother, Myron Kyes, was married to Miss Diana E. Peebles. The double wedding took place in Brodhead. Mr. and Mrs. Peebles made their home on a farm in the town of Albany, Green county, until Mr. Peebles' death 22 years ago. Mrs. Peelbes has made her home in Evansville for the past seventeen years. The funeral will be held at the home tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock, the service in charge of Mr. D. Quincy Grabill. The interment will be in Maple Hill cemetery. Mrs. Peebles leaves three brothers, Myron and Jason Kyes of Evansville and Ason of Ogden, Utah, and one sister, Mrs. E. C. Patterson of Toledo, Iowa, together with many friends to mourn her loss.
