Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: George REED ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, February 2007 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ George Henry Reed George Henry Reed was born in Geauga County, Ohio, May 19, 1845 and died at Evansville, Wis., Nov. 25, 1906. In 1846, while Mr. Reed was but an infant, his parents moved to Wisconsin and settled in Rock County, and he has since resided in the county with the exception of about six years, a part of which was spent in Minnesota. He studied medicine and for a time practiced as a physician, but his health failed and he was compelled to seek other employment. For a time he conducted a drug store in this city. On June 16, 1869, he was married to Miss Ella S. Colton. Three children came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reed; Bert Jay Reed, died July 5, 1889, and Mrs. Charles Johnson and Dwight Reed, with their mother, survive the husband and father. Mr. Reed has been in poor health for a number of years, and for the past three weeks has been critically ill. He was conscious to the last though for a time unable to speak. Mr. Reed has for a number of years been a member of the Methodist church of Evansville. He was a good citizen enjoying the highest esteem of all who knew him. The funeral services were held at two o'clock, this friday afternoon, from the M. E. church.
