Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Anthony RICHARDSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ A RESPECTED OLD CITIZEN PASSES AWAY Anthony Richardson, a respected colored citizen, passed away at his home in this city last Saturday, after a brief illness. For over forty years he had been a resident here, where he at one time was the proprietor of a barber shop. Mr. Richardson, who was seventy-one years old, was born in Bourbon county, Ky., and at the age of nineteen became a private in Capt. Thompson's Company N, Forty-Second Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry, as which he served his country's call until he received an honorable discharge. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Aldine Dixon, of Janesville, and to this union three children were born--Edward who died at the age of seventeen; Arthur Richardson, of Prairie View State Normal Industrial College, Texas, and Mrs. Alice Ferguson, of Rockford. Funeral services were held from his late home yesterday afternoon at 2:30, being conducted by the REv. Malcolm Miller, of the Congregational church. Interment at Maple Hill cemetery.
