Elijah Roby whom we mentioned last week as being sick, died Saturday,
August 12, 1893, and was buried from the Methodist church Monday afternoon,
services by Rev. W. W. Stevens of the M. E. church. Had Mr. Roby lived
until October next he would have been 88 years of age. Mr. Roby had been a
consistent member of the M. E. Church and for a number of years held the
honored position of class leader, while a resident of Monticello. He buried
a daughter just eight weeks ago. His wife died before coming to Evansville.


Long may his memory be cherished in the hearts of his many friends left
behind.
