His father was one of the first settlers in Green county, and as a boy he received such education and training as was possible under the early pioneer conditions. Mr. Roby was married Oct. 26, 1879, to Miss Ella White of Brodhead. To this union there were born five children, three of whom survive. They are Clarence Roby and Clayton Roby of Milton Junction, and Miss Ina Roby, who lives at the home in Mifflin. In the earlier part of his life Mr. Roby lived on a farm, but later moved to Evansville, where he and his family lived for over thirty years. Here he made his home until four years ago. He was a member of the Baptist church, and had a wide circle of local acquaintances and friends. The body was brought to Evansville yesterday and the funeral service was held in the First Baptist Church this afternoon at two o'clock, and was in charge of Mr. D. Quincy Grabill. The burial was in Maple Hill cemetery. Beside the widow and children, Mr. Roby leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers, George, of Evansville, and William of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, and two sisters, Mrs. Maria McClinic of West Salem, Wis., and Mrs. Barbara Bloom of Woodstock, Minn.
