Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Catherine RODD ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Mrs. John Rodd Funeral services for Mrs. Rodd were held at the house on Garfield avenue Sunday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. Hanman of the Methodist church officiating. Duets were rendered by Mesdames Dake and Patterson. Love and respect were shown by the many floral tributes. Interment was made in Maple Hill cemetery. Catherine Moss Moore had completed the seventy-fifth year of her life when death came to her last Thursday afternoon, October 26. She was born in Ontario county, New York, March 17, 1845, and came West in 1852, residing near Rockford, Ill. Three years later the family came to Plymouth township and subsequently removed to Albany, Green County. She was married to John Rodd, May 31, 1867, and resided for thirty-seven years at the home farm in Magnolia township; but has lived in Evansville for the past nineteen years. All of her children survive her. They are Mrs. Mary Shreve, Gertrude L. , Fred W., and J. Warren Rodd and Mrs. Henry Austin. There are also three granddaughters to mourn her: Catherine and Evalyn Rodd, and Mrs. Robert Richardson. She has two brothers and one sister living: Waite Moore, Colorado Springs, Colo., Marshall Moore, and Mrs. George Simmons of Grand Rapids, Mich. Devotion to her family and friends was her life work. She was an unselfish wife and mother, a kindly neighbor and a most estimable woman. Her memory will be cherished tenderly by all who knew and loved her; "For to live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." The following from outside points attended the funeral: Mrs. Geo.
