Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Martha Estella SMITH ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Martha Estella Smith After a long illness of many months duration, of heart trouble, Mrs. Martha Estella Smith, departed this life at her home on North First Street, Saturday afternoon in her forty-ninth year, having been united in marriage to Mr. Ralph Smith since Nov. 14, 1900. To this union there was born but one child, Hayden, a son now grown, who makes his home with his parents. The funeral took place from the home Monday afternoon, the services being in charge of the Rev. O. W. Smith, interment being in Maple Hill Cemetery under the auspices of the Eastern Star. The deceased was born in Rock County and before her marriage made her home in the vicinity of Janesville, where still resides a sister and two brothers, Geo. and Charles Flaherty, while another brother, Sherman Flaherty resides in Brodhead. The deceased was a woman of many estimable qualities who has suffered much in her long illness, which suffering she has taken with a patient fortitude that won the admiration of all. The out of town people who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Flaherty, Mr. Charles Flaherty, Miss Lillian Flaherty, Mr. E. J. Taylor, Mrs. Will Sager, Mrs. Jennie Trumbull, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nelson, Mr. Walter Flaherty, Mr. Floyd Flaherty, Mr. and Mrs. John O'Leary, all of Janesville; Mr. Sherman Flaherty and daughter Dollie of Brodhead; Miss Mary O'Mar, Monroe; Mr. William Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. E.
