Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Sarah H. SMITH ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ The many friends of Mrs. Sarah H. Smith were greatly shocked to hear she had passed away on the morning of Feb. 22. She had only been confined to her bed since the Friday before. Mrs. Smith was born in Paxton, Mass., and had she lived until the second of next month, would have been seventy-four years old. She has resided in Evansville thirty-eight years and was loved by all who knew her. She has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Warren Saunders, ever since the death of her husband, eleven years ago. She leaves one other daughter, Mrs. John Balfe of Janesville. Both will deeply mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Lumbus of Hodson, Ia., and Mrs. Ellen Sisson of Dakota, two half sisters, Mrs. Marcia Jorden of Albion and Mrs. Grave Knox of Belleville; three brothers, John S., of Brookings, S. D., Jason S. of Laurel, Neb., and James S. of La Porte, Ia., and one half brother Moses of Dayton. She also leaves seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Saunders, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. D. Q. Grabill officiating. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
