Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Albert J. SNASHALL ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, February 2007 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Albert J. Snashall was born in England December, 5th 1847, and died in Evansville July 26th 1926. When one year old he came with his parents to this country first living in Newburg, New York. At the age of eight years his parents came to Western New York living at Sherman near Chautauqua Lake. Here he grew to young manhood until the fall of 1867 when he came to Evansville to work for his brother, Caleb Snashall who had just then started in the hardware business. With the exception of about six years spent in Chicago, Mr. Snashall has made Evansville his home for nearly sixty years. For many years he was a builder and contractor and was afterward pattern maker, for many years at the Baker Manufacturing plant. September 5th 1869 he was united in marriage to Eva E. Sherman. Mrs. Snashall died May 8th 1922. For the past three winters Mr. Snashall has made visits to his two nephews, Claude and Arthur Snashall who are now living at Long Beach, California. Funeral was held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred L. Janes, Wednesday afternoon and burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. In the passing of Albert Snashall there will go from the streets of Evansville a familiar figure of a man whom all had got to know from his many years of residence here and many loved for his quiet, kindly unassuming ways. Mr. Snashall was a man who loved his fellow man and had faith in all humanity. He believed in the Golden Rule and practiced it always. He believed in good citizenship--and was a citizen who believed in his country and had confidence in her future. As a citizen he will be missed by the community and as a friend he will be missed by many. July 29, 1926, p. 4, col. 5 & 6, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
