Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Andrew STEVENS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Funeral services over the remains of the late Mr. Andrew Stevens will be held from the Grove church on Monday at 11 a.m., after which the remains will be interred in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Stevens was one of the pioneer settlers of Rock County, coming to this place from New York in 1843 and settling on a farm about two miles northeast of this village, where he made his home for many years, or until a few years ago when he removed to Janesville, where he lived at the time of his death. Deceased was upwards of 80 years of age. Four children, the youngest being Henry, a resident of this village, and an aged wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. Mr. Stevens was one of the founders of the Grove church and donated to that society the tract of ground on which the church now stands. He was at one time connected with the M. E. church in this place and now after a long, eventful and useful life " he sleeps in peace." April 28, 1893, The Enterprise, "Footville" news, p. 1, col. 6, Evansville, Wisconsin
