Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Jane S. STOCKWELL ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Death of Mrs. Jane S. Stockwell DIED, Thursday Aug. 27, 1891, of consumption, at her home in this city, Mrs. Jane S. Stockwell, aged 65 years. Funeral at the residence, Sunday Aug. 30th, at 1 p.m. Rev. Scholfield officiating clergyman. The remains will be interred at what is known as the stone house cemetery on the prairie. The deceased was born in Perry, Ohio, and came to this township with her parents in 1846, and located in Union village where she was soon after married to Mr. Rufus Stockwell, and located upon Mr. Stockwell's farm, where they resided until moving into this city, in 1881. She became the mother of three children, two boys and one girl, the latter died when but five years of age. The two sons are still living, Henry, the older one, near this city upon his father's farm and William in Fulton, S. Dakota, from whom Mr. Stockwell received a telegram this morning stating that it will be impossible for him to be present at the funeral. Mrs. Stockwell has been a very patient sufferer for many years, and by her very amiable disposition has none but friends in this entire community. Although it has long been known that her time was short in this world, we all feel the last sad parting very deeply from one so highly prized in our neighborhood. Her husband has been very faithful to the last, giving her the most tender care, and providing the best medical skill, but alas, all is of no avail when the Redeemer calls all must go.
