He was born Nov. 10, 1853 in the Town of Center, where he grew to young manhood on his father's farm. He was married to Mary Apfel, Nov. 22, 1879 in Footville, and took up farming in Magnolia. They lived there eight years and 38 years ago moved to Evansvillle make their home. Seven children were born to them a daughter and a son dying in infancy. He is survived by hiw widow and five children, Ray, Mrs. Francis Davis, Robert, Mrs. Bessie Jones, Evansville, and Harry, Janesville, 14 grandchildren, and one great grandson. Four brothers, Russell, Oregon, Walter, Magnolia, Edgar and Charles, Evansville, and Mrs. Emma Frazier, Magnolia. Funeral services were held at the home on Almeron St., Tuesday, May 11, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Saunderson officiating. Interment in Maple Hill.
