Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: John TULLAR ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ In the passing of John Tullar, at the home of his brother, Walter, last Saturday, in his eighty-third year, Evansville loses a much loved and respected citizen. Born in Crawford county, Pa., in 1843, Mr. Tullar came to Wisconsin in 1844 with his parents, they first settling near Albany. Eight years later they purchased a farm just southwest of Evansville, now known as the Tullar District, where he later purchased a farm of his own. October 27, 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Orrissa Taggert, she dying Februry 13, 1925, after having celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Tullar served his country as a soldier in the civil war, being a member of the G.A.R. post of this city. Mr. Tullar was also a member of the Masonic Fraternity and after his removal from the farm to this city was honored for many years as supervisor for the first ward, on the county board. Since the death of his wife Mr. Tullar has made his home with his brother, Walter, at his home on South Madison St. Funeral services were held at the W. D. Tullar residence, Monday at 2:30 o'clock, according to Masonic rites, Rev. Saunderson of the Methodist Episcopal church conducting Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. He is survived by six brothers: F. A., Long Beach, Cal.; Miles Lennox, S. D.; Elmer Springfield, Ore.; Fred, Chetek, and Earl and Walter, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lawton, Eugene Ore., and Mrs. Laura Taggart, Evansville.
