The remains were brought to this city Tuesday, and the funeral services were held from the residence of his sister, Mrs. Jane Wilcox, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. James Churm officiating, interment was made in Maple Hill cemetery. David Van Patten was born in Brownville, Jefferson County, New York in 1828 and came with his father Peter Van Patten and family to Wisconsin and settled in the town of Porter in 1842. His father died March 28, 1886 and his mother died April 2, 1871. Years ago David was married and his wife died leaving with him one daughter who resides in Adams county. He leaves two brothers and three sisters, namely, Fred of Waupaca County, Dempster of Rockford, Mrs. Sarah Anderson of Waupaca County, Mrs. Marie Lee, of Elk Point, S. Dak., and Mrs. Jane Wilcox of this city. One brother James, died at Sheldon, Ia., one year ago last January and remains were brought here for burial. The deceased was a good citizen a man of good habits and character and many friends extend sympathy to the family. Y., in 1828, and died in Janesville, Wis., March 26, 1906; he leaves one daughter in Adams Co., his oldest brother, Fred, and a sister in Waupaca Co., one sister in Dakota, a brother, Dempster in Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Jane Wilcox of Evansville. He wife preceeded him to the better land several years ago, he has been a member of the M. E. church for twenty five years.
