VAN PATTEN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ FORMER LOCAL WOMAN PASSES LAST FRIDAY Mrs. Frank Van Patten, 85, Dies In Chetek; Funeral Rites and Burial There Mrs. Frank VanPatten, 85, Chetek, former Evansville resident died last Friday in Chetek where she and Mr. VanPatten have resided since 1911. Mrs. Van Patten, formerly Miss Eva J. Howard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Howard, was born in Magnolia township south of Evansville. Mr. Howard operated a general store at Magnolia Corners for several years. Mrs. Van Patten completed a course in the State Teachers college in Whitewater after which she taught school until her marriage on March 12, 1884. The VanPattens resided in the city of Evansville until they moved to Chetek. She is survived by her husband, a son, Howard VanPatten, Chetek, two daughters, Mrs. E. J. Gibbs, Evansville, and Mrs. C. N. Hall, Barron, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Three grandsons served in the armed forces. Funeral services and burial were held Sunday in Chetek. Mrs. E. J. Gibbs assisted in the care of her mother during the last weeks of her illness. She was joined there Saturday by Mr. Gibbs who went to attend the funeral.
