JAMES B. VAN PATTEN Elizabeth Catherine Van Patten, wife of James B. Van Patten, died at her home on West Main street, this city, Wednesday morning at 7:30 o'clock of heart failure. She was taken sick at about 3 o'clock in the morning and lived only a few hours. Mrs. Van Patten called on neighbors the afternoon previous, and in the evening entertained callers, so that she was in her accustomed health up to within a few hours of her demise. She was born in the town of Union Oct. 21, 1850, and with her husband and family had lived in this city for twenty-two years where she was widely known and highly esteemed for her many womanly virtues. Besides her husband and son John of Waukesha, she leaves a sister Mrs. Mary E. Day of Evansville and a brother Kossuth Morgan of San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Van Patten was a member of the Congregational church and the funeral will be held at one o'clock at the home and two o'clock at the Congregational church Friday, Rev. D. Q. Grabill officiating.
