Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Hiram VAN PATTEN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mr. Hiram Van Patten died at his home in this city, Tuesday, Sept. 5, '99 of consumption of the lungs. Mr. Van Patten was born in Brownville, Jefferson County, N. Y., Oct. 25, 1830. He came to Wisconsin with his parents in 1845, and settled in the town of Porter, his father being one of the first settlers in that township. He resided on the farm until 21 years ago, when he came to this city, and where he has since resided. He was a carpenter by trade, a hard working, industrious man. He was married in the town of Union, May 9, 1861, to Miss Mary Ann Boyd. Besides a widow, he leaves three children, Mrs. Della Mashall of Beloit, Frank who resides in the town of Magnolia, an Herbert of Boscobel. Three sisters and four brothers survive him: Sarah Anderson, of Waupaca County; Maria Lee, of Elk Point, S. D.; Jane Wilcox, of this city; Fred, of Waupaca County; James of Sheldon, Ia.; David of Hanover, and Dempster, of Rockford, Ill. The funeral services were held in the M.
