Van Patten were brought here Wednesday from Kansas City, where he died Monday evening, while on his way to California for his health. The deceased was many years ago a resident of the town of Porter and after disposing of his farm, resided in Evansville. Several years ago he removed to Sheldon, Ia., where he at present resided. For year his health has been poor, and this winter he purposed to visit California, via the Excelsior springs in Missouri and see what effect it would have. It was not what was expected and he quietly passed away at Kansas City. Mr. Van Patten was aged 69 years and leaves a wife and an only child, Mrs. A. F. Gibbs of this city. David Van Patten and Mrs. Wilcox are brother and sister of the deceased. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church tomorrow afternoon. The Rev. Ralph officiating.
