Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: William WILCOX ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ DIED. WILCOX--On Wednesday Nov. 22, 1893, of heart disease, Mr. William Wilcox, aged 59. Funeral on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the M. E. church under the auspices of the Odd Fellows. The sudden death of Mr. Wilcox cast a gloom over the faces of many friends in this city when the announcement was made of the above fact. Apparently enjoying the usual good health of people of his age, and attending to his work as a carpenter the day previous, no such news was anticipated, but it seems he has been subject to a myocarditis and organic mitral trouble for many years. A wife is left ot mourn the departure of a kind and loving husband, and the heartfelt sympathy of many friends is extended in her bereavement. Wilcox, an old and respected citizen and G. A. R. man died suddenly of heart disease at his home in this village, Wednesday morning. Mr. Wilcox had been troubled with the disease for a number of years but was as well as usual up to the day before his death when he came home sick and summoned Dr. Colony. He seemed to improve and is said to have mentioned just before his death that he was a great deal better, and even went out doors for a time. On coming in he drew a chair close to the stove and sat down to warm himself and almost immediately fell over dead. His sudden and tragic death is a great blow to his relatives, friends and comrades and also to our citizens. The funeral will be held from the Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
