Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Olive M. Barnum WILSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Olive M. Barnum Wilson was born in Cattaraugus Co., N. Y., Feb. 14, 1828, and died at the Central Hotel, the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Wolfe, on Sunday morning at 9 o'clock, May 31, 1903. She was married to Chas. E. Barnum in May 1850 and with her husband came to Albany, Green County, Wis., in 1854. Three children were born to this union, each of whom survive and mourn the loss of mother; they are Mrs. Martha Wolfe, Addison M., and Fred A. One sad feature in this connection that on account of ill health Fred A., the youngest son, was prevented from attending the funeral. Mrs. Barnum Wilson was left a widow with three small children to provide for during the early sixties, Mr. Barnum having enlisted in the service of his county on Sept. 14, 1861 and died of typhoid pneumonia in U. S. hospital at Lawrence, Kansas. She was again married to Wm. Wilson in July 1882, this union abided only for two short years, then Mr. Wilson was taken in 1884 from her side and she was again a widow. During the years intervening between the last separation and her removal from earth, she has been tenderly cared for by her children, especially by her daughter, Mrs. Wolfe, from whose home she ascended to the better land. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church for 61 years, having been converted at the age of 18 and immediately thereafter united with the church. She leaves many friends to mourn her decease. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. James Churm, the pastor, officiating. June 6, 1903, The Badger, p. 1, col. 3, Evansville, Wisconsin Mrs. Barnum Wilson was buried Tuesday afternoon. Services held at the Methodist Church by the Rev. Churm. Mrs. Wilson was an old resident of Evansville and was 75 years age, she was highly esteemed by all who were fortunate to become acquainted with her. She leaves three children, Mrs. Martha M. Wolfe, Addison M. and Fred A. to mourn the loss of a kind mother. June 4, 1903, Evansville Review, p. 1, Evansvill, Wisconsin
