Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Ann WOOD ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, February 2007 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Mrs. Ann White Wood was born in Bath, Somersetshire, England, Nov. 22, 1823, died at her home in West Magnolia, Wis., Dec. 21, 1897, being aged 74 years, 1 month, 19 days. She was married to John Wood at the age of 26, to which union were born five children. Her husband and three children survive her. Two children preceeded her to the better World. In 1852, she, with her husband moved from England to America, settling first in Janesville, Wis. In 1855, they moved to the homestead in West Magnolia, where she spent the rest of her life. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Church of England, and was a woman of staunch Christian character. it was her earnest desire to be baptized and join the Free Baptist church with her husband, but declining health prevented her. She died happy in her Savior whom she had served and loved so many years. The funeral was from the Free Baptist church Thursday, the 23rd, inst. at 12 o'clock. The remains were buried in the Evansville cemetery, Rev. M. C. Miner of the F. B. church officiated. For several weeks past Mrs. Wood had been a great sufferer and death brought the relief she had longed for. Miss Ann White was born in England where she lived until after her marriage to Mr. Wood. She has lived in this country for many years and has endeared herself to a large circle of friends and neighbors who knew her real worth by what she has done. Mrs. Wood was a member of the church of England, and was a woman of staunch christian character.
