Caflisch K-26 Wis inf March 24, 1888 Sir: I have the honor to request that you will furnish from the records of the War Department a full Report as to the service, disability, and hospital treatment of CHRISTIAN R. CAFLISCH who, it is claimed, enlisted DEC 21 1863, and has served as PVT in Co. K, 26 Reg't WIS VOL INF; also in Co. and was discharged at MADISON WIS, MAY 13, 1865. While serving in Co. K, 26 Ret't WIS INF he was disabled by SUN STROKE AND RESULTING PARTIAL BLINDNESS, AND DEAFNESS AND DISEASE OF HEART INCURRED AT ATLANTA GA JULY 1864. ALSO MUMPS AND RESULTS INCURRED AT NASHVILLE TENN SPRING OF 1864 and was treated in hospitals of which the names, location, and dates of treatment are as follows: HOSPITAL AT NASHVILLE TENN 1864, SPRING, Very respectully, John C. CHRISTIAN CAFLISCH, a PRIVATE of Company K 26TH Regiment WISONSIN Volunteers was enrolled on 31ST day of DECEMBER, 1863, at HONEY CREEK 3 YRS and is reported: ON ROLL FOR MARCH & APRIL 1864 PRESENT, MUSTERED IN JAN 23 64 SIMILARLY REPORTED TO OCT 31/64; NOV.& DEC 64 ABSENT DETAILED AS CATTLE GUARD JAN & FEB 1865 PRESENT, MAR & APRIL 65 ABSENT PRISONER OF WAR, MUSTER OUT ROLL DATED JUNE 13, 65 REPORTS HIM ABSENT SICK SINCE APRIL 5/65. MUSTERED OUT ON DET.M.O. ROLL MAY 13/65 AT MADISON WISC, WITH REMARK, "PRISONER OF WAR" RETURN JULY 64, DOES NOT REPORT HIM ABSENT FOR APRIL & MAY 65, ABSENT SICK. ALSO BORNE AS CHRISTIAN R CAFLISCH.
