Matthew Ashenbrenner passed away Nov. 23rd at the home of his son, Albert
Ashenbrenner in the town of Seneca at the age of 84 years, 6 months and
20 days. He has been failing gradually for the last year. Deceased was
born in Bohemia March 24, 1840. While still a resident of Bohemia, he married
Barbara Sousek. Eight children were born to them: Albert on the home place;
Joe who died a few years ago; and 2 children who died in the old country;
and 3 girls, Mary, Mrs. John Pevonka; Anna, Mrs. Peter Dillenberg; Barbara,
Mrs. George Dillenberg; and Katie, Mrs. Frank Stefl, who is dead. In 1883,
they came to America with their families and settled on the place which
was sold to his oldest son Joe, and now owned by Albert Ashenbrenner. His
wife died about 12 years ago. He also left living 30 grandchildren and
41 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday from the
St. Mary's congregation.
