Death has again laid claim to one of our citizens, Arianna Knowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perley Knowles, of River Falls, born at Concord, N.H. Dec. 25th, 1847. Fourteen years ago she was married to George T. Hughes and became a member of Hudson's social circle. She died at the home of her age. Mrs. Hughes, while fond of society and the company of friends, gave herself in a large degree to her family, striving to make home the pleasant and attractive place that it should be for both husband and children, in which effort she was eminently successful. She had been for years, a great sufferer, at. But her patience was so great and her conversation so cheerful that few but her more intimate friends knew what she endured. In August last she was stricken down suddenly at her home near city and the gravest fears of her friends were awakened; but rallying again she went to the home of her parents to recruit, but soon Bright's disease of the kidneys asserted its unconquerable grasp and though fought by all the power of physicians and friends after weeks of intense, yet patient suffering cheered by hopes of recovery, she fell asleep, mourned by many. Her husband and children, and likewise her parents of whom she was the only daughter have the sincerest sympathy of the entire circle of her acquaintances.
