Deceased was born sixty seven years ago in County Claire, Ireland, at the age of eighteen he came to America, first settling in New York where in February 1866 he was joined in marriage with Miss Mary Linch(?). They resided in New York about five years after which they moved to Winona, Minn., where they lived another five years. 37 years ago they came to the town of Glencoe, Wisocnsin, where they opened up a fine farm and where through hard labor and close attention to his vocation he soon transformed the wilderness into a productive farm and a beautiful home. Mr. Boland is a man of powerful physique and was not afraid of work, he shouldered his share of hardship and trials like a man. He conducted his farm until a few years ago he was stricken with a complication of diseases, which neccessitated his retiring from active work, last fall he and his wife moved to this city where they could spend their declining years in ease and comfort. Mr. Boland had several spells of heart trouble and this malady finally caused his death. Besides his sorrowing widow he leaves eight children, namely; Patrick, Andrew M., John and James of Glencoe, Wis. Miss Margaret, of St. Paul, Mrs. James Hennesy, of St. Charles, Mrs. Jos. Manning, of Dilworth, Minn., and Mrs. Philip Baecker, of Glencoe, also two sisters and sixteen great-grandchildren.
