Haines As briefly announced in our last week's issue Mrs. Margaret A. Haines nee Bill died at her home in Bill's Valley, town of Arcadia, Wis., on May 3, 1916, after an illness of about three years from chronic endo condritis. Deceased was born Aug. 22, 1840 at Wilsenrode, Germany and came to America with her parents while yet a child. They settled at Utica, New York. In the year 1856 she was joined in marriage with Mr. Christian Haines at Canastota, N. Y., where they lived until after the civil war, when they came west, as far as Fountain City and later moved to a homestead in Bill's Valley where she has lived ever since. She was a mother of fourteen children, five of whom preceded her in death. Her husband also preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1914. The surviving children are Edward, Joseph W., John, Adam and George Haines, Mrs. John Rohn, Mrs. John Wenzel, Mrs. Mat Frisch and Miss Lena Haines. She also leaves 57 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren, and two sisters, namely: Mrs. Katherine Kant, of New Hartford, N. Y. and Mrs. Engelhart Doelle, of the town of Cross, Buffalo Co., Wis. The funeral was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church last Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock. In the absence of Rev. J. L. Hauck, Rev. H. J. Vaussen of Waumandee officiated, and a large concourse of friends and relatives attended. Interment was made on the family lot in Meyers Valley cemetery. In the passing of Mrs. Haines the community loses a modest unassuming woman, whose kindly disposition won her the esteem and good will of everyone. Going with her husband into the wilderness, she shared with him the labors and privations incident upon building a home. Devoted to her home and family, her sole aim was to provide for the comfort and well being of those nearest and dearest to her. A dutiful and loving mother, a kind neighbor and true friend has passed away. May her rest on the bosom of mother earth, be as peaceful as her life has been and may she reap a bountiful reward in a life everlasting. To the bereaved relatives we extend condolence. - Newspaper unknown.
