Submitted by Marilyn Morgan 3 May 2004 ************************************************************************ Galesville Republican Thursday, April 26, 1962 DELL SMITH DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME Delbert (Dell) John Smith, 75 died suddenly at his home in South Beaver Creek Sunday evening, April 22. He was born in the town of Ettrick, Sept. 2, 1886, the son of Mr. & Mrs. John Smith. He married Lily Langston in Minneapolis, June 30, 1913. She died in 1958. The couple farmed in the South Beaver Creek valley most of their married life. Survivors include two brothers, Pyrl of Ettrick and William of Kenyon, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Robinson, Kenyon; Mrs. Otto (Myrtle) Salzwedel, Kenyon; and Mrs. Charlotte O’Conor, Elwood, Ell.; a son Lloyd, who operates the home farm, although he lives in North Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Lucille) Swenson, North Bend, and Mrs. Della Johnson on the home farm, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, at North Bend Presbyterian church. The Rev. Richard Hill of Galesville will officiate and burial will be in the North Bend cemetery.
