"George Smith, Sr., died at his home near this village.  The funeral was
held Wednesday, interment at North Bend.  The deceased was an old settler."

Letter-"Galesville, Wis. Mar. 22 '96--Dear Father, word has just reached
us.
That your Father Is "dead" he died at 4:30 this afternoon. I will write you
again soon. As ever your daughter Carrie J. Sheeley"
