She died from the after effects of a stroke. She was born 22 Sep 1847 in Plymouth, Chenango Co., NY. She was the daughter of Frederick and Laura Shoales Wales. They moved to Elkhorn when she was 16 years old. She married John Walker Farrar on 30 Nov 1871 and the farmed near Delavan Mound. They had lived in Elkhorn for 31 years before her death. They had been married for fifty-two years. She was a member of the Congregational Church. Her husband and three children, Harry (Harrison Arthur)of Elkhorn; Will (William Leo) of Chicago, IL; and Laura (Mrs. E.G. Davis)survived her. One daughter Hilah (Mrs. Fred Madouse) died two years before. She was also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas W.(Genora) Morefield, and Mrs. George B. (Alice) Dunlap; and three brothers, Arthur and Walter Wales of Elkhorn; and Eli Wales of Long Beach, CA. She was buried in Hazel Ridge Cemetary. Attending the funeral were James Farrar, her brother-in-law, of Mason City, IA; Mrs. E. G. Davis, her daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Will Farrar, her son and daughter- in-law; and Mr. and Mrs. W. Moore (Mrs. Will Farrar's parents), all of Chicago, IL. Additional Comments: She was my great grandmother.
