Winkleman, 79, died Friday at the infirmary of Fairhaven Home for senior citizens after a long illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1891, in Watertown, the son of William and Mary Recknew Winkleman. He lived in Elkhorn and Delavan before moving to Whitewater in 1912 where is hamily purchased the Union Produce Co. and made Perfection Brand Butter for 39 years. The business was sold to Hawthorne Melody in 1951 when Winkleman retired. He married Florence Austin in Waukegan, Ill., on April 7 1917. He was a member of the First United Congregational Church of Christ for 51 years and a longtime member of the Walworth County Planning Board. Surviving are his wife; one son, Edward Jr. of North Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Joanne) Hulce of Plymouth, Mich., one brother Fred of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one sister, Miss Esther Winkleman, Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Rev. Carroll Olm will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the Fairhaven Memorial Fund. Hickey-Kent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
