Bjurman, 79, Bashaw Township, died on Friday, July 29, at Terraceview Living Center, Shell lake. He was born on Oct. 14, 1914, in Poskin to Albert and Anna Bjurman. He graduated from Spooner High School. He resided in Downing before entering the army during World War II where he served in italy and Africa. Leonard was united in marriage to the former Lorene Nida in Downing. Following their marriage they resided in Bashaw township where he was engaged in farming. He also was employed by the Minnesota Rubber and Mfg. Co. for 30 years. Survivors include: his wife, Lorene; one son, Lloyd, San Diego, Calif.; three daughters, Sandy Bjurman, Shell Lake, Marilyn Gruber, San Diego, and Linda Kroupa, Killeen, texas; five grandchildren; and five sisters, Norma Bjugstad, Cumberland, Lillian Johnston, Cumberland, Florence Roe, Shell Lake, Monona Van Beek, Shell Lake,a nd Laura Jensen, Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at Pockat Funeral Home, Shell Lake, with Rev. Clarence Eckor officiating. Burial was in Spooner's Veteran's Cemetery. Military rites accorded by the Spooner Honor Guard. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Pockat Funeral Home.
