Butenhoff, 91, Shell Lake, died on Sunday, March 7, 1999 at the Spooner Health System nursing home. She was born in Earl on Jan. 22, 1908, to James and Ida Thompson. She spent her early life in Earl and graduated from Spooner High School in 1927. On Oct. 21, 1927, she married Gustave Butenhoff in Grand Rapids, Mich. They farmed in Earl and Beaver Brook for about 20 years and then moved to Minneapolis where Isadore worked at Glenwood Hills Nursing Home. She and her husband retired in the town of Beaver Brook in 1969. She had resided in Shell Lake for three years prior to going to the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980; one daughter, Betty, in 1988; and several sisters and brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Dolores (Edwin) Bosshardt, Silverton, Ore.; one son, Norman (Louise) Butenhoff, Shell Lake; 12 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at Sarona United Methodist Church with Dr. Melvin Vilhauer officiating. Spring burial will be in Earl Cemetery. No visitation will be held. Pockat Funeral Home, Shell Lake, is assisting with arrangements.
