Dahlstrom, in this village after a short siege of pneumonia. He was born November 21, 1855 at Mora, Sweden, and came to America with his parents at the age of 12 years, settling at Little Falls, Wis. He was united in marriage to Bertha Nelson on Nov. 18, 1881. In 1883 they moved to Shell Lake, and settled on their farm, west of here, in 1886. To this union eight children were born, four daughters and four sons, namely, Mrs. Anna Johnson of California; Mrs. Albert Hillman, St. Paul; Hilda, deceased; Mrs. John Milke, Shell Lake; Oscar, Harry, Melvin, and Vernon, all of Shell Lake. His wife preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1936. Grandfather Dahlstrom was one of the sterling pioneers who was true to his convictions no matter what the consequences were. He held many public offices during his half-century residence here, being a member of the school board and County Board until a few years ago. We regret the passing of these salt-of-the-earth pioneers, who were staunch settlers and did much in developing this country into what it is today. Their conscientious efforts and determination to work contributed to their accomplishments for which we are all indebted. The last rites for Mr. Dahlstrom were conducted at the Salem Lutheran church in Shell Lake on Saturday, Rev. C. D. Mattson officiating. The pallbearers were Eric Saline, Hugo Holm, Chas. Holm,Carl Hanson, Frank Marker and Victor Mattson. --Taken from the Washburn County Register, Shell Lake, Washburn Co., WI 28 January 1937
