Drnek passed away at her home in Birchwood on New Year's day, January 1, 1937, at 3:40 a.m. She had been in poor health for a long time but carried on bravely for life especially the past few weeks awaiting the recovery of her husband's recent illness from an appendicitis operation. Funeral services were conducted at St. John's Catholic church on Monday forenoon at ten o'clock, Rev. Father Tabinshi officiating in requiem high mass. The pallbearers were H. L. LaPointe, M. R. Newberg, John McLeod, G. C. Gould, Frank Setterlun and John Rohlik. Interment at Wood Lawn cemetery. Mary Louise Drnek, (nee Link) was born May 15, 1902 at Durango, Colorado. Her mother died when she was seven years old, and she was raised by the George Gould family in Angus, Wis. Her father, Oswald Link, 86 years old, is still living at Ely, Nevada. Mrs. Drnek was married to John W. Drnek on Sept. 12, 1924. To this union three children were born, namely, John, 11; Joseph, 9; Mary, 3 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and National Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary. She was a woman beloved by all who knew her, kindly disposition and charitable, and her home and family were paramount in her life.
