This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nance Sampson 13 February 1999 ==================================================================== GRANT, Oscar Oscar Grant, 23 years, passed away at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, January 20, 1937, at the General hospital at Madison, Wis., from kidney complications. He was taken to the hospital there two weeks prior to his death. Oscar had been ailing with kidney trouble ever since infancy. Deceased was born in Town of Barronett on Sept. 29, 1913. He operated the home farm with his brother, Einar. He was a member of the Heart Lake Lutheran church and male chorus. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Andrew Thorpe, Muskegon, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. William Kasten, Evanston, Ill., and Evelyn, Muskegon, Mich.; two brothers, Einar and Olaf, Jr. His father preceded him in death in 1935. Funeral services were conducted at the Heart Lake church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Homer Johnson officiating. Music was furnished by the Heart Lake Male chorus and a vocal solo by Mrs. Johnson, "Will there Be Any Stars In My Crown", this was Oscar's favorite song. Out of town people present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Kasten and Gladys Deerly of Evanston, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gronning, Ruth Gronning, and Pauline Peterson, all of Minneapolis and Arthur Deerly from a CCC camp near Hayward.
