Fr. Paul Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the Shell Lake Cemetery. The former Valetta Appleby was born November 8, 1900 in Grant County, Wisconsin. She married Kenneth Hoar in Minneapolis and the couple had resided in Shell Lake following their marriage. She had been a social welfare worker for the county and state, a member of St. Agnes Guild and the Shell Lake Tuesday Club. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Virginia Schullo and Paula Mercier, both of Garden Grove, Calif.; three grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Schneider, Yucca Valley, Calif.
