She was taken ill about three weeks ago with what was first believed to be a mastoid. Funeral services were conducted at the Salem Lutheran church on Sunday at 2 o'clock, Rev. C. D. Mattson officiating. "The Old Rugged Cross," was sung by June Toftness and Glen Peterson. The choir sang, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Jesus Loves Me" sung by Jeanne's Sunday school class. The pallbearers were Kenneth Hazelwood, Warren Hazelwood, Anton Roeser, Edwin Roeser, Theo. Christensen and Bud Huerth. Jeanne Elaine was born at Rice Lake on Nov. 26, 1926. She was a pupil of the second grade in Shell Lake schools and attended the Salem Lutheran church Sunday school. Her sunny disposition won her many friends and her memory will long remain among those who knew her. Her spiritual tendencies were predominant and always was a fine student in her religious studies which were her greatest comfort. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson of Barnum, Minn., were here to attend the funeral of their little niece. The saddened home which was so happy by the presence of their cheery and sweet flower, now departed to Heavenly shores, has the sympathy of their many friends in this community in their great loss. --Taken from the Washburn County Register, Shell Lake, Washburn Co., WI, 4 February 1937
