Johnson, 65, Town of Trego, was pronounced dead on Thursday, July 14 at Community Memorial Hospital, Spooner. He was born on Feb. 23, 1929, to Edward and Rose (Harris) Johnson in St. Paul and was raised there. He graduated from Johnson High School in 1947 and attended the University of Minnesota where he participated in the ROTC program. On Oct. 4, 1950, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hawkins in St. Paul. They resided for many years in White Bear Lake. He served in the National Guard. He was a 40-year employee of the 3M Company, retiring in 1986. In 1987, they became full-time residents on Trego Lake. He served for four years on the Washburn County Board of Supervisors for the Town of Trego. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Scott, Stillwater, Minn., and David, Mahtomedi, Minn.; five daughters, Shelly Fox, Nashua, N.H., Deborah Johnson, Rosemount, Minn., Blaine Johnson, Oviedo, Fla., and Renee Seiler and Heather Milton, both of Maplewood, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Christian, Stillwater, Minn.; and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service took place on Monday at Spooner United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard G. Maser officitaing. Arrangements were handled by Scalzo Funeral Home, Spooner. Memorials to the donor's choice are preferred.
