H. Marble, who after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Schricker, was taken to the St. Joseph hospital in Rice Lake, where she passed away Friday, May 14, 1937. Mrs. Marble had not been in good health for some time, but her last illness and death came as a great shock to her host of friends and relatives. The deceased had been a resident of this vicinity for 35 years and had a larger number of acquaintances in the county than most anyone now living here, and, with her wonderful memory concerning folks, could tell some incidents concerning each acquaintance. Few, if any, who enjoyed her acquaintance but could tell of some act of "good neighborliness," she had shown them. Louvina Huddleston was born in Washington, Ill., Dec. 1st, 1861. She was married to C. H. Marble in Ponca, Nebraska, March 28th, 1882. To this union four children were born, two of whom died in early childhood and two survive her. They are H. E. Marble and Mrs. Geo. Schricker, both of this vicinity. She is also survived by one step-daughter Mrs. Frank Hayden of Webster and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Marble came to Wisconsin in 1902 and settled on a farm 2 1/2 miles north of Shell Lake where they resided until 1931 when they moved to Shell lake where they resided until their demise. The funeral services were held from the Shell Lake M. E. church Monday, May 17, at two o'clock. Rev. Lockhart officiated. Interment was in the Shell Lake cemetery by the side of her husband, C. H. Marble who preceded her in death, Sept. 30, 1936. A large number of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives. --Taken from the Washburn County Register, Shell Lake, Washburn Co., WI, 27 May 1937.
