McNabb, 81, Shell Lake, died Friday at her home. She was born Nov. 25, 1901 at Ashby, Minn., and moved with her family to the Shell Lake area in 1906. She was graduated from the Shell Lake High School in 1919 and received her teaching certificate at River Falls in 1921. She taught school in the Spooner School District for fifty years, coaching the girls basketball team in Spooner during that time. She was involved with many organizations, which included being a member of the United Methodist Church and its Naomi Circle; past unit and district president of the American Legion Auxiliary; past worthy matron of Crescent Chapter #17 Order of the Eastern Star; member of the Shell Lake Hospital Auxiliary; Hilldale Homemakers Club; leader of the Excella 4-H Club for fifty years; and was the president of the Washburn County Junior Fair Board for fifty years. Miss McNabb was awarded the Agricultural and Life Science Award from the University of Wisconsin in 1972 and was chosen Shell Lake Citizen of the year in 1980. Survivors include three brothers, Frank and Charles McNabb, Spooner and John McNabb, Shell Lake; two nieces, Mrs. Sue Mace, St. Cloud, Minn., and Mrs. Peggy Schaefer, Shell Lake; and a nephew, Frank McNabb of San Diego, Calif. Funeral services were held Monday at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ray Heilborn officiating. Burial followed at the Shell Lake Cemetery. Visitation was at the Pockat Funeral Home, Shell Lake, and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
