This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Vicki Pierce 1 February 2003 ==================================================================== The Spooner Advocate Spooner, WI December 13, 1934 Pioneer Woman of Evergreen Called Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Moen, aged 82 years, 7 months and 24 days, pioneer woman of the town of Evergreen who was highly esteemed among neighbors and friends, passed away at her home in that township Sunday, Dec. 9, as the result of a heart ailment. Anna Elizabeth Jacobson was born April 15, 1852, at Thronjhen, Norway, where she spent the early years of her life. she came to this country with her parents when a girl of 16 years of age, the family first settling in the state of New York where they lived several years, then moving to Osseo, Wis., where the subject of this sketch was married to Peter Andrew Moen on April 18, 1879. They came to this county in 1887, settling on the farm in the town of Evergreen which has been the family home since. The husband and three children, Mrs. William Pierce and Martin and Mary Moen, preceded the mother to the grave. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Christ Olson, Everett, Wash.; Mrs. Melvin Johnson, town of Evergreen; and Mrs. Selmer Johnson, Eagle Grove, Iowa; also one son, Martin Moen, of the town of Evergreen. Twenty-four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) Dec. 12, at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon from the Roberts Mortuary in this city.
