Moen Martin William Moen, son of the late Peder and Anna Moen, was born in Evergreen township, Washburn County, April 23, 1890. He attended Rocky Ridge School and later as was later employed by the Omaha railway for many years. On July 13, 1917 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War I. He participated in the battle at Alsace, Marne, Aisne and Argonne in Europe in 1918, and was honorably discharged on May 27, 1919. He had been in failing health for some time and passed away at the Spooner hospital on Thursday, September 17 at the age of 69 years, four months and 24 days. He is surviced by his wife, Carrie; three daughters, Mrs. August Johnson, of Trego, Mrs. Arthur Faber, Beloit; Mary Moen, Trego; five sons, Roy Moen of Orchards Wash, Robert Moen, Trego, Edward Moen, Farrockaway, New York, Donald Moen, Medford and Henry Moen, at home; two sisters Mrs. Jelmer Johnson, and Mrs. Melvin Johnson, Shelby, Montana; also 22 grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 19 at 3:30 p.m. from Dahl Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Daehlin officiating. Burial in Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Military rites were accorded at the grave. Casket bearers were: Jack Olson, Robert Koel, Henry Peta, Dale Ackley, Harvey Johnson and Bud Roessel. p 72-834 Wisconsin Historical Society microfilm, Madison, WI
