Funeral services for Inez W. Neil were conducted at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, at 9 o'clock last Friday morning. The church was filled to over- flowing of those who came to pay their final respect and tribute to one they loved. Rev. Fr. P. G. Rivers officiated at low Mass. The church choir sang three of Inez's favorite hymns, "Mother Dear," "Veni Jesu" and "Nearer My God To Thee," and Mrs. H. A. Donally sang "What Could My Jesus Do More." The pallbearers were Earl Reinhart, Frank Ahassy, G. C. Benson, H. S. Benson, F. R. Brand and J. S. Kennedy. Interment in Calvary cemetery in Shell Lake. Inez Wynne Neil was born in Minneapolis on January 18, 1884 to Mary and Thomas Neil and was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. She passed away suddenly at St. Joseph's hospital in Rice Lake on Feb. 15, 1937. She came with her parents to Washburn county 41 years ago and they settled in the Town of Bashaw. She attended the Baker school and was a pupil of Mrs. James Cable, who taught there at that time. She was a member of St. Joseph's church in Shell Lake. For the past two years she made her home with Mrs. Kate Schultz. Miss Neil had been a faithful employee of the Benson Mercantile company for 15 years. Words fail to express the true character with which Inez was so divinely endowed and through development of righteous living, her virtues won her a multitude of friends who held her in high esteem. Always charitable and kind, Inez walked in the light of Jesus, practicing the teachings of her Savior in everyday life. --Taken from the Washburn County Register, Shell Lake, Washburn Co., WI, 25 February 1937.
